BARBIE

There are many traditionalists that view women as trophies, accessories; OBJECTS. Misogyny tells us to objectify and sexualize women. Misogyny tells us that “women should be seen and not heard”. Misogyny says that women don’t deserve a voice. Misogyny degrades women for the purpose of boosting the male ego. For what?! Dominance?! What misogynists seem to forget is that they are and have been BIRTHED and CARRIED by a WOMAN.

While this appears to be a piece on silenced women, this piece showcases the beauty of sisterhood I’ve witnessed throughout my years from women within my lifetime. A women’s ability to ADVOCATE on behalf of other women amid public scrutiny, suffocation, anger, tension, pressure and SILENCE. Oddly enough, while the left hand traditionally, promotes negative connotations such as death, etc., this piece challenges the traditional idea regarding role of women and utilizes the left hand as a helping hand.

Furthermore, societies showcase women like they’re Barbies, hence the plastic wrap around the subject and they say that they’re so emotional, hence the heart glasses connoting the idea of their “emotional tendencies”. As men we can’t understand what it takes to be in their position.  GIVE THE CREDIT WHERE THE CREDIT IS DUE!

No one person is greater than another. No one struggle is greater than another. WE ARE EQUALS and it is time we started acting as such!
